I'm Matt. I've spent my career on the infrastructure and security side of IT, working as a senior technical escalation point in managed services, banking, and enterprise environments. I take on outside projects that are a good fit, and no project is too small or too large.

01What I do

Custom software & web development
Internal tools, replacements for clunky SaaS, small-business websites. Custom built to solve needs with an emphasis on security, validation, testing, and form sanitization. Recent work: VendRoute (self-hosted vending-route software replacing a legacy SaaS, including the inventory and reporting the old vendor never got right), a small-business site for Snyder Granite, bug fixes and code analysis on the most popular Final Fantasy XI private-server codebase. Always creating little tools and scripts to assist me with everything I do.
Cybersecurity hardening
Homes and small businesses. Network segmentation, MFA rollout, password and account hygiene, backup and recovery design, vulnerability scans, phishing simulations. Day-job experience aligning controls to CMMC, NIST, and HIPAA, plus incident response work including full infrastructure rebuild after a ransomware hit.
Performance & infrastructure assessments
One computer or a fleet. I find what's actually slow, misconfigured, or at risk, and I give you a written report with a ranked fix list, not a vague "it looks fine." I'll always prioritize working with whatever you have before recommending spending any money on hardware.
Server, backup & virtualization
Design, migrations, and cleanup of inherited environments. Hands-on with VMware/ESXi, Hyper-V, Veeam, Datto BCDR, Asigra, Acronis, VMware Horizon VDI, SharePoint Online and file-server migrations, DR planning.
Endpoint & identity management
Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM, Intune, Microsoft 365 tenant work, PowerShell automation for bulk operations, Duo MFA, vulnerability scanning.
Networking & firewalls
Policy work, traffic monitoring, segmentation, clean-up of inherited configs, and switching and routing. Comfortable with many vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto.
General & home tech
Wi-Fi setup, new-computer configuration, smart-home and streaming, printers that refuse to cooperate, game-server and hobbyist oddities. If it plugs in, I can figure it out. Weird problems or ancient computers don't scare me off, if anything the weirder the problem the more I will be invested in it.

Every job is different. No project is too small or too large. I'll scope it with you and give you a number in writing before any work starts.

Hourly
$60–$120 / hour

Scales with complexity. Assessments, troubleshooting, consulting, one-off work.
